PERSONAL PROTECTION OVERVIEW
     A Personal Protection Dog is trained to protect you and your family while still being an affectionate, well socialized pet. Having a personal protection dog gives you peace of mind that you and your property will remain free from intrusion. A well-trained protection dog is the best deterrent against intruders available today. Having a Personal Protection dog is a huge liability and each owner must understand it is a tool only to be used in emergency situations. Having a Personal Protection dog means your dog is taught to recognize a threat, respond to your commands accordingly, whether it be to "turn your dog on" or "turn your dog off". Not every dog is capable of doing protection work. Each dog is evaluated on the dog's natural suspicion level. Based on the evaluation of your dog we will then move forward in training your dog for Personal Protection work.

PREREQUISITES FOR PERSONAL PROTECTION WORK
     You must have a one on one consultation with our certified trainer. In the evaluation we will determine if having a personal protection dog best suits your needs and situation. You must have total on and off leash control of your dog and be able to pass a test meeting Georgia K9 Academy's obedience standards. After completion of the Personal Protection Program you are required to attend lessons to maintain your obedience skills as well as your dog's personal protection skills.

THE COST OF HAVING A PERSONAL PROTECTION DOG
     The cost of training will vary depending on your needs and the extensiveness of the training. Generally the cost of having your dog trained for Personal Protection work can range from $1,500.00 to $10,000.
